Learn

We all have to start somewhere, so before we learn to walk, we must crawl. Learning about the natural world is the first step in getting your feet wet to see what truly inspires you. There are countless topics to explore out there, and believe it or not, researchers need your help to make their programs successful. You can make a difference by collecting data or simply taking and sharing photos of plants and animals in your area. That is what it means to be a "community scientist" (also called a citizen scientist). Ready to take the plunge? Check out the Participate section for cool programs focused on monarch conservation, many found in one place at the Monarch Joint Venture site. You will soon discover how your knowledge and talents can be put to very good use! If this sounds like more than you are able to commit to, you can always give back in other ways. Conservation organizations are in desperate need of funding, letter writing and savvy social media users to spread the word!
